FINAL REFLECTION

Over the past 10 weeks of the internship in Requin Tech, I have learnt some valuable lessons to help me kickstart for the future career:

1) BE SELF-INITIATIVE:

First lesson is to be a self-initiative when working with clients who are not sure what they want/ want to have everything. We have to give them recommendations, analyze and give them our knowledge. Because they are not people in the industry, if you don't speak up, they just assume that everything could be done and you will be the person who have to do things that you are not capable, comfortable or force yourself to do things you don't like or overwork.

2) BE FRANK:

The second lesson I learn is to be frank. When I received the feedback from clients that totally wanted me to do things in different direction, my first reaction that I was afraid to speak my opinion because I think it is not quite professional. However, after I reply professionally and list the reasons to back up my argument, they totally change their minds and agree with me. So the situation completely changes, in a good way for you. So my lesson is to be open and honest if possible.

3) BE FLEXIBLE:

This lesson applies to the story I have when the clients intend to go with the art direction/ visual style that they after. If I am not comfortable with that direction, I must find some alternative solution that could help both sides. By that we could not sit still and let the clients decide for us, we have to be active in finding solutions. On the other hand, when we receive a difficult brief, the first reaction should not be : "No, I can't" but "Yes, I can". As designers I think it is important to be creative in dealing with different situations but also not afraid of stepping out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself. Because you might not know what you are capable of, until you actually do it.
